| Sarah Frances (Burch) Galyean October 24, 1919 - November 6, 2004 Elementary Tenure: 1962-1984 |
| Mrs. Galyean was born October 24, 1919 at Mantachie, Itawamba County, Mississippi, daughter of Luke. Eugene Burch and Ethel Gertrude (Sheffield) Burch. She received her advanced education at Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas, and at Memphis State University. She was an elementary teacher, first at Corinth, Mississippi, and then at Hughes, where she joined the faculty in the ’62-’63 school year. Mrs. Galyean was a member of the Hughes United Methodist Church and the Missionary Society. She was also a Hughes High School parent, mother of HHS graduates Sarah and Susan. Mrs. Galyean passed November 6, 2004 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center, Jonesboro, Arkansas, interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis |
