| Miss Moore was born June 2, 1890 at Vilonia, Faulkner County, Arkansas, daughter of Abel James Moore and Lula Mae (Cox) Moore. She began teaching in the fall of 1920, holding classes in the former home of Mrs. S.C. Russwurm, also a Hughes teacher, but she married school board member Thomas Henry Tucker on March 18, 1921 and didn’t finish the term. Miss Dell Flood took her place and finished out the school year. Mr. and Mrs. Tucker became the parents of HHS graduates Leon M. and Carlos L., and grandparents of HHS graduates Meredith, Tom and Dee. She was active in Eastern Star and a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Tucker passed July 7, 1978, interment in Forrest Park Cemetery, Forrest City. |
