Samuel Lee Ashworth

Born November 14, 1949 at Hughes, son of Samuel G. and Gladys Evelyn  (Roberts) Ashworth. While
attending Hughes High School, he served as Senior Class Reporter, FFA Treasurer, and as a member
of the yearbook staff. He also participated in his Jr. Class Play and with the HHS Fire Marshals.
Athletically, Mr. Ashworth played football and basketball, and ran track. After graduating from HHS in
1967, he entered Arkansas State University at Jonesboro, where he received the Bachelor's of
Science Degree in 1971 and the Masters of Science in Education Degree in 1974. Mr. Ashworth settled
at Hughes, where he farmed and taught at his Alma Mater. He was a member of the Hughes First
Baptist Church and the Hughes Hunting Club, and he was a former Arkansas State Trap Shoot
Champion. Mr. Ashworth died at his home on April 21, 2003, aged 53, burial in Crittenden-Memorial
Park Cemetery at Marion, Arkansas.
