| Ruth (Harrison) Groves November 19, 1916 – August 9 2008 Elementary Tenure: 1940's |
| Miss Harrison was born in Moscow, Fayette County, Tennessee, daughter of Herbert O. Harrison and Mary Lee (Morris) Harrison. She grew up in Hughes, and graduated from HHS, after which she entered Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. She graduated from ASC in 1939 with a BSE Degree, and she taught elementary grades at Hughes in the early 1940’s. Miss Harrison married James Henry Groves on June 24, 1945, and they settled in Memphis, where she taught in the city schools of Lawler, Fox Meadows, and Bethel Grove. She retired in 1976. She and Mr. Groves were long time members of the Audubon Park Baptist Church. She died August 9, 2008, burial in Magnolia Cemetery, Collierville, Tennessee. Mrs. Groves was the sister of Mary Dean (Harrison) Collier, HHS Class of 1933. |
