| Reda Elizabeth Brown October 18, 1903 – September 6, 1996 Elementary Tenure: 1955-1978 |
| Miss Brown was born October 18, 1903 in Mantachie (Itawamba County) Mississippi. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Brown and Martha (Cummings) Brown. Miss Brown began teaching school upon her high school graduation and obtained her college degree during summer breaks at the Blue Mountain College and Mississippi State University. She loved going to college and had a passion for teaching. Miss Brown first taught elementary school at Fulton, Mississippi, then Hughes were she joined the faculty in 1955. Miss Brown was a member of the Hughes United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful primary age Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Missionary Society. Miss Brown was the sister of Mrs. C. L. Burch and lived in the Burch home where she was the beloved great aunt to the Brown and Burch grand-children. Miss Brown passed away September 6, 1996 at Crittenden Hospital in West Memphis, Arkansas. Interment was at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas. |
