| Minetta “Minnie” Swan January 22, 1910 – November 1977 General Education Tenure: 1921-1922 |
| Miss Swan was born in Alabama to Grant and Mattie Swan, and they appear in the 1920 Census for Hughes. According to Julia McKemie’s “A Brief History of the Hughes School,” Miss Swan taught in 1921 and 1922. She had only completed two years of high school, which was more than an ample amount of education to teach school in the 1920’s. She married 07 Oct 1921 to Elmer Erskin Ivy, and they settled in Memphis, where she died in 1977, burial place unknown. |
