| Mac L. Lacefield March 22, 1927 – April 14, 2014 Physical Education Tenure: 1950-52 |
| Mac L. Lacefield, was born in Plumerville, AR on March 22, 1927 to Forrest and Arkie (Tiner) Lacefield. He was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Cotton Plant High School and Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) where he was a member of the 1948 undefeated football team. Mr. Lacefield served in the United States Navy during World War II where he was a Fireman Second Class and retired from the United States Department of Energy. He was a member of the Wright Volunteer Fire Department. Mac was an avid fisherman and gardener. Coach Lacefield came to Hughes in 1950 where he directed the Hughes football team to its second District 6B Championship during the 1950-51 school year. Coach Lacefield was admired and respected by the many men who played for him during his tenure at Hughes, and his name will forever be synonymous with the Hughes School and its football team. Interment at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. |
