Kermit Hinesley

Mr. Hinesley was born February 6, 1912 in Stone County, Arkansas, son of Charles M. and Malissa
Jane (Holland) Hinesley. He married Euda Mae Branscum, also a teacher at HHS, on September 20,
1934. Mr. Hinesley served during WWII in a mortar platoon, and he saw extensive action in the
European Theater. After leaving the military, he taught in various area schools near his home in Stone
County. Mr. Hinesley received his advanced education at George Peabody College for Teachers, and
he appears as a jr. hi. math teacher in the 1955 and 1956 HHS Yearbooks. After leaving Hughes, Mr.
Hinesly eventually became the principal at Watson Chapel Public School at Pine Bluff, where he
retired in the late 70’s. He died March 4, 1994 at Mountain View, Stone County, Arkansas, interment in
Fox Cemetery, Fox, Stone County.
