| Miss Keith taught music in the Hughes Elementary School from school years 1965-66 to 1968-69. She was born October 6, 1926 at Helena, Phillips County, Arkansas, daughter of Charles N. and Claude E. (Gibson) Keith. After her father’s death in 1932, Miss Keith and her mother moved to Ripley, Mississippi, where she graduated from Ripley High School in 1945. She was a three-time graduate of Blue Mountain College in 1949 and 1950, studied piano at the Cincinnati Ohio Conservatory of Music in 1951, and completed a Master of Music degree at the University of Mississippi in 1961. Miss Keith was a gifted pianist, teaching music for sixty years. She also served as librarian at the Blue Mountain Public Library for twenty years, and she was an avid lover of animals, especially cats. Miss Keith died at age 84 on November 8, 2010, burial in Ripley Cemetery, Tippah County, Mississippi. |
