| Mrs. Martin was born July 17, 1916 at Baptist Hospital Memphis, Tennessee to Dr. E. J. Chaffin and Elizabeth Wilsford. Mrs. Martin a graduate of the University of Mississippi began teaching at Hughes in 1938 but left after the 1939 school year to live in Memphis, Tennessee. She returned to teaching in Hughes in 1950 and remained on the faculty until her retirement in 1978. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Hughes United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society. She was also active in the Town and Country Garden Club. Mrs. Martin was the wife of Fred Rolfe Martin and the sister of E. J. Chaffin Jr of Hughes. She raised two sons, Rolfe and Judson Martin who both graduated from Hughes High School. Mrs. Martin left this life Dec 1, 1991. Interment was at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas. |
