For the first time Hughes sent two teams to the State Basketball Tournament. The Blue
Devils won the District 6B Championship but lost in the state tournament. The Imps came in
second in District 6B but lost to Delight, Arkansas in the state tournament.
Due in part to the fine play of the Hughes basketball teams, a new foul board was erected in
the Gym (Old Gym) courtesy of Finley Electric and with the hard work of local citizens.
New faculty members added this year were:
Miss Linda Arnett, English/Secretary
Miss Hazel Coleman, Business Education
Mr. Franklin Dickey, Math
Mr. George Doty, Science
Mr. Robert Meeks, Band Director
Mrs. Roy Stobaugh, Glee Club
Miss Ruth Davis, 2nd Grade
Miss Ruby Bewley, 3rd Grade
Miss Loretta Pruitt, 4th Grade
